Central office located in Adelaide CBD. Client agencies located in both Adelaide CBD and metropolitan areas. 

 The organisation

The Auditor-General’s Department is the independent auditor of the South Australian public sector. The Department reports directly to Parliament on the audits and examinations of state and local government agencies covering financial reports and operations, controls and matters of public interest.

Duties

During the work experience placement you will have the opportunity to assist with a variety of external auditing tasks including:

  • assisting with the conduct of financial compliance and internal controls audits that contribute to the development of complying public sector financial statements
  • assisting with core audit work such as documenting business cycles and internal controls, analytical review, controls and substantive testing, and financial statement verification.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • studying towards a degree in accounting or commerce (majoring in accounting) and in their final year of study in 2019 (or recently completed a degree) - the degree must meet the eligibility criteria for entry to the CPA Australia professional study program (professional level).
  • an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident at the time of applying.

Special conditions

The preferred candidate/s will be required to undergo a criminal history check.
