About the role
The Deputy Audit Manager is the entry point to a leadership role within the Department. The role offers rewarding challenges working with a diverse range of clients, systems and processes.
Reporting to the Principal Audit Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- undertaking the day to day coordination and supervision of a small team of audit staff
- assisting the Principal Audit Manager to plan, conduct and report on a portfolio of financial compliance audits and reviews of internal controls in the public sector
- conducting certain agency audits and regular liaison with senior managers in public sector agencies
- reviewing working papers submitted by less experienced staff
- assisting in the planning, conducting and reporting of extended reviews of issues in the public sector
- contributing to the quality assurance of audit work.
To be successful in this role you need to have highly developed external auditing skills, good leadership and communications skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to build strong relationships with your clients and team.
Essential requirements
An appropriate degree which meets the eligibility criteria for entry to the professional study program of either CPA Australia (professional level) or Institute of Chartered Accountants (accredited tertiary entry pathway level).
Special conditions
- Must have Australian citizenship or Australian permanent residency status at time of applying
- The preferred candidate will be required to undergo a criminal history check
